Have a new incident here that is raising the awareness level but the questions as well. I personally think I would feel threatened too. We have a 6 foot stone wall for thee sides of the yard and then a locked gate on the house side so if I saw someone weird there would be some issues.
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas resident took matters into his own hands by fatally shooting a possible intruder on Tuesday morning.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Spurs Court, near
Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way on the far west side of town.
The victim was shot in the back yard of a home. Police believe the
victim had no right to be on the property and did not know the resident
who fired the shots.
The resident called 911 and claims to have shot in self defense.
People who live nearby say this is the last thing they expected to happen in their quiet neighborhood.
"You're talking nine in the morning, in broad daylight," said Stacy
Hawkins. "This is an upscale neighborhood. It proves it can happen
anywhere. It's kind of scary. It definitely makes you think."
The incident has prompted many residents to question their own safety,
and the protective measures they have in place at their homes.
Bob Irwin, the owner of The Gun Store, says things like this typically cause an increase in gun sales.
"People realize how vulnerable they are, and want to have a gun in the
house to protect themselves," Irwin says. "It's a normal reaction to
crime."
"If somebody comes after me, with the intent to harm me or my family, I
want to be able to protect myself and the ones I love," says Ned
Barnett. "That's all I care about. That's why I'm here looking for a
pistol to keep at home."
Irwin says gun sales are already up 31 percent over the same time last year.

We love comments! We are happy to answer questions, join in debate and conversation, or just say hi. All we ask is for respect. Respect us and others. Keep it civil. Obviously we aren't afraid of cussing but we don't like anyone degraded or invalidated.
We also know we make mistakes. Feel free to call us out. You can't improve things that need it if you aren't aware of it.
If you have an opinion share it but know if it is going to cause hurt to someone we care about we will not approve it.
Most of all have fun!!
