OMGosh! I am actually blogging!

Wow, Lila has been busy. I figured it was time to pull at least part of my own weight around here. So today you get a post from Gracie. I have been insanely busy the last couple of weeks and just haven't had the time. Last week I spent the week with my family celebrating my dad's 80th birthday. I had a GREAT time visiting with all of my family but honestly, it felt AMAZING to sleep in my own bed.
I have several posts I plan on writing either today or tomorrow and posting over the next few days. I have garden updates, bee updates (those bugs are nuts!), and just life in general updates. Hopefully I can keep up with Lila so she doesn't have to do the lions share of keeping up with our blog.

Project ADD update

One more down, two to go. I finished this afghan for another nephews wedding and I also finished another lanyard for Hubby's coyote calls. I got an order for a dog sweater that has already been paid for so that is next on the agenda. Whew, someday, I will catch up on my craft obligations.

Good Intentions Sometimes Go Awry

Yesterday my inital plan was to stay in bed. All day. The Boy didn't like this plan, and literally handed me clothes and told me to get dressed. Plan B was to do some sort of cooking/canning. I wanted to make French Dip Sandwiches, and I've been wanting to make Au Jus for sometime. But for Au Jus you need beef stock. And if I'm going to have beef stock around, I might as well make it myself.

I hit up Stewart's and got a bag of frozen beef bones (swear to goodness, it's huge. Probably 10 lbs.) and also a lb of stew meat (I figured some for the beef stock for flavor, the rest in... stew?) and a butterflied chicken breast (I wanted chicken strips for dinner since the Beef stock was going to take 8 hours or so).

On my way home, I was kindly reminder of a previous engagement I had made. So I was forced to scratch the beef stock until later that night. I figured I wouldn't be able to give it a full 8 hour cook, but at least 6 or so. Instead, I ended up taking the Boy to the hospital (he's fine) and we didn't finish up there until 0500. We finally got home about 0615, and I slept on and off for most of the morning.

Hopefully I will be able to whip something up tonight and pump it out. Not sure if I'll can it tonight, but we'll see.

Topsey turvey update

So it turns out the problem with my smaller tomato wasn't too much water. The wind had broken the stem. The sponge hadn't been correctly put in and I think that is why it happened. I bought a new plant to replace it. This one had two stems just in case one broke again, lol. A few days later, one of them did so it was a good thing. Both plants are doing well and growing like crazy. My one tomato is growing big and I cannot wait untill I can turn it into an amazing BLT. The big plant has been covered in blossoms for the last three weeks or so and I think it is going to be quite the producer. Just in case anyone wanted to know, the big plant is a Celebrity, the one that broke and died was an Early Girl and the new one is a Jet Star.

Topsey turvey tomato update #2

I have a tomato! It's small and so far only one, but the bigger plant is getting lots of blossoms. The bigger plant is doing fantastic. For some reason the smaller plant is not doing so well. I noticed yesterday that despite all the water it has been getting (five days worth of rain running off from the roof and straight into the planters) it is wilting. I am thinking after looking inside the planter today that it is needing more soil. All of the water has packed down and the planter is now probably less than half full. So when I am running errands today I will pick up another bag and hope that helps.

Topsey turvey tomato update

So my tomatoes have taken a sharp U turn. Literally. The tops are growing up. Makes sense, but I just wasn't expecting it. You know for that infomercial they took full grown plants and put them in that planter. I hope that when the tomatoes start growing, they don't break the top of the plant off. I guess we shall see. I will also need to put more potting soil in now that its all settled. Will update when there are new developments.
