AMY WINEHOUSE IS DEAD....... Oh and Norway had an attack that killed dozens...

News in general makes me mad. Norway is facing a devastating loss. Last CNN count had the toll from both the bomb and shooting at 92 with more to come. Maggy spent time there as an exchange student so this hits especially hard for her and she spent time worrying about people she loves very much yesterday. The world should be focusing on this and on sending love and support to the people impacted by this.

Now word comes from England that Amy Winehouse has died. It is running across CNN's front page. Yes they still have a lot of coverage up of the attacks in Norway but my news feeds on facebook are already being bombarded with info from England. This drives me nuts. Yes this is a very sad loss to the music community. She had a beautiful voice. BUT far to often real world events get drowned out by celebrity news. People are becoming so wrapped up in Brangilina and the newest celebrity baby and are ignoring the real news that it is no wonder the bureaucrats in DC get away with such crap. Love the craft and the art of music and film but stop obsessing over their personal lives and start taking an interest in the actual happenings in the real world. You might just improve your country.

  1. Great point, it always happens like that. The Norway incident will get pushed aside and for the next week we will be fed rehashed info on Amy Winehouse.

    I came over via "North"

  2. I spent a lot of time tracking the attack in Norway yesterday. My wife just walked in and said "Hey, Amy Winehouse just died". My response? "Huh, 'bout time". I'm not saying I wished her harm, I'm just saying that it is absolutely no surprise. It should be a comment on the entertainment page in a sane world.

  3. I have nothing brilliant to add here. I just wanted to tell you that I agree with everything you said. The fact that Amy Winehouse is being mourned more severely than the devastating loss in Norway is so very wrong.

  4. Welcome Pissed LOL. That sounds like an oxymoron LOL. Any friend of North's is a friend of mine.

45er I wasn't surprised either. It's sad sure but any headline with her name in it was about using or rehab rather than music lately. Sad but fact. You live like that it catches up.

Barefeet that is a part of my disgust honestly. The events in Norway was a huge freaking tragedy. The shooting lasted well over an hour. That is insane to me. I really hope they continue to get the respect and help they need and that their grief isn't belittled because a woman who chose to throw her life to drugs and alcohol finally put her body through to much.

  5. The events in Norway came as a surprise to me, and are terrible.

Winehouse's death is no surprise, given her lifestyle, and I find it a pathetic waste, rather than a horrifying event.

  6. I agree with Bob... Winehouse was the train wreck waiting to happen, and it did... She is NOT front page news, Norway IS! I hadn't heard the upped to totals yet again, and sadly many of those killed were young folks.

  7. I have no idea who Amy Winehouse was, but Americans love to obsess over anything tragic. How about that trail recently where Headline News, supposedly a news update service, shifted to covering every second of the trial. And people got into fist fights trying to get in. Maybe we need a good population reduction event, the gene pool is in serious need of revamping.

  8. Hubby's comment on Norway was "Babe this is just the beginning, we are gonna have some Red Dawn type stuff soon and probably with China over this debt crap."

  9. I'll never understand celebrity worship. What a waste of time.

  10. I admit to knowing celebrity headlines along with the rest because I follow the major news on Facebook and have the feeds on my phone. If it is a headline I read it. But the stalking obsessing crazy crap is beyond me.

We love comments! We are happy to answer questions, join in debate and conversation, or just say hi. All we ask is for respect. Respect us and others. Keep it civil. Obviously we aren't afraid of cussing but we don't like anyone degraded or invalidated.

We also know we make mistakes. Feel free to call us out. You can't improve things that need it if you aren't aware of it.

If you have an opinion share it but know if it is going to cause hurt to someone we care about we will not approve it.

Most of all have fun!!
